Valentin Klemencic is the author of the forthcomeoing book,  #DIGITAL: How to Start your Own Online Business. He is the owner of Click by click Blueprint to Online Business Mastery.

Velentin sent me his reading list and some valuable words of wisdom to all budding authors and entrepreneurs. His reading, I found to be very similar to my own apart from Anik Singal, who is the only author in this list  whose work I am yet to familiarise myself with.

The following are answers that he gave to questions that I asked about his reading journey.

  1. Yes there is a book that change my life.  It’s Robert Rolih’s “The Million Dollar Decision”.
  2. This book opened my eyes. It kicks me in my b… so I stoped procrastinating. I took action (finally) and I’ve got my first results. It was so encouraging I don’t want to quit anymore..
  3.  My favourite authors are: Anik Singal, Brian Tracy, Richard Branson, Patric Chan, T. Harv Eker, …
  4.  Brian Tracy and Richard Branson have such energy that just suites me. I just love them… – T. Harv Eker is the authority in mindset thing and that’s very important. – Anik Singal and Patric Chan are main authorithies in email marketing. It’s simple.
  5.  My desert island list would consist of: – Anik Singal, “The Circle Of Profit”, – Patric Chan, “The International Player“, – T. Harv Eker, “Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind”, – Brian Tracy, “Eat That Frog”, – Tony Robbins, “Unlimited Power”, – Richard Branson, “Scew It, Let’s Do It”.
  6.  [The advice that I would give would be] “Everybody can change his / hers life. You just have to set your goals, be determined and take action! Don’t procrastinate! It’s never to late!”

Belief systems

Hiya! I hope you are dealing well with any procrastination issues you may have had in the past. A good book to help you in your quest is Dan Meredith’s ‘How to be F*cking Awesome’, which I will be reviewing this week. So, do keep an eye on the Reviews page. Belief Systems, is this week’s topic and the aim is to identify that beliefs are ingrained into our nervous systems, where they come from and learn how to identify debilitating beliefs so that we have a chance of eliminating them.
Tony Robbins, author of The Giant Within and international motivational speaker, is a master at telling you how belief systems are constructed. My husband and I attended a seminar 10 years ago and listened to Tony telling us that what we believe is what determine the actions we take in our lives. In other words, if you look at your life right now, it is a direct result of the decisions and actions that you have taken to get here. And these decisions were made based on the beliefs you held at the time.
I have read about people who choose to forgive the most heinous offences committed against them. It’s not martyrdom really, they simply believe that to free themselves of the burden that comes with holding a grudge, they have to forgive. Conversely, I have known people who hold onto beliefs such as that ‘It’s mum and dad’s fault that I’m in this mess because they sent me to the wrong school’. This belief can lead the person to making wrong choices because they believe that someone else must make things right hence they fail to take responsibility for themselves. The lesson is that every decision leads us down a certain path and there will be some consequences. So, what if you don’t make a decision? Sitting on the fence is really the same as making a bad decision.
Tony Robbins says people make decisions based on a desire to avoid pain OR a desire to gain pleasure. How does this work? Most of our beliefs are learned from our parents, guardians, teachers and the list goes on – from an early age. We learn to be cautious at just about everything we do from the time we learn how to walk, how to cross the road, how we approach our education (we learn to fear failure). Of course, these are good intentions because they help us avoid pain. But we also need to learn that being overly cautious can lead to inactivity and procrastination. Likewise, we are also motivated by the desire to gain pleasure. If you have ever experienced immense pleasure and at the same time something was happening. You will link that incident to pleasure – think Pablo’s dogs – every time he rang a bell, he’d give the dogs a treat. Now the dogs would simply begin to salivate each time they heard the bell ring. They knew that please comes after that bell has rung.
So, how is pain and pleasure linked to beliefs? Our desire to gain pleasure and avoid pain are wired into our nervous systems and what we believe to be the truth determine how we make our decisions. In order to change what’s not working, all we need to do is live a conscious life, ask questions and refuse to settle for the status quo.
I am always fascinated by Zig Ziglar’s ham story. Zig was a famous US motivational speaker and one day he began to notice that his wife would cut the ends of the ham before cooking it. He asked his wife why would she do that and she answered that her mother used to do it that way and that’s where she learned how to cook ham. Zig decided to put the same question to his mother in-law and the answer was just the same. She had learned to cut off the ends of the ham from her own mother. Zig’s grandmother in-law clarified the ham story as such: It was simple really. She cut off the ends in order that the ham would fit in her pot. So, there you are. The things we believe oftentimes do not make any sense but we fail to question why we do them and hence the behaviour is propagated, even if it does not serve us well.
Another story that shows just how we live our lives in semi-consciousness is that of a woman who told her friend that she’d had an unpleasant time in the bath because the drip in the tap made her back cold. Her friend asked why she was sitting directly under the cold tap and she answered that when she was young, she and her sibling used to share a bath and she always sat at the tap-end of the bath. And at that moment did she realise that she still did even though she was alone in the bath.
Often, we hold some very harmful beliefs about ourselves such as: we are not clever enough or interesting enough etc. All we need to do is to be aware of these beliefs and then put in place triggers or counter arguments that we can go to in order to vanquish these limiting beliefs. For instance, we can remember a specific time that we were none of the things we believe about ourselves; or if we think we are too old to do something, we can counter that by saying to ourselves, ‘My age brings experience and wisdom to the table’.

It’s always a good idea to keep a dairy and write these things down so that we can refer to them when we need to; and use them as mantras to bring about lasting change. After all, a life worth living is a life worth recording, right?

Procrastination 13-09-17

In last week’s blog, I identified 3 dragons that fuel procrastination. These I have managed to silence completely and as promised, I will share with you how I have managed to do that. Firstly, let’s define procrastination in very loose terms – no dictionary def. When I procrastinate, it usually means I’m avoiding doing the things that I think need doing. For instance, when I have avoided picking the phone up to enrol in a course or seminar; or avoided setting off to lose that extra stone I have been dragging around for two years – you get the gist of what I’m saying. The main reason for procrastination, in my opinion, is born out of fear; a fear of humiliation, a fear of rejection and a fear of failure.

Firstly, according to the all the books on personal success I have read, we need to identify why we are fearful, hence I have named three reasons here, before we can set out a strategy to offer resistance to the fear. [I will be drawing from The Seven Decisions which is in the Book Review]. Consequently, a counter method of a fear of humiliation is to be authentic and honest. If you have been putting off picking up the phone to ask for a promotion or make a sale, ask yourself if you are being sincere about what you are communicating. If it is true that you are being sincere, then there is no reason why you should feel humiliated about making that connection -after all you’re not trying to short-change anyone. Present your true self and you will not have to worry about humiliation.

A counter for a fear of rejection is to know that some people have legitimate reasons for saying NO to you. Let’s say you are trying to make a sale and are told no. Think for a moment that that person genuinely has no need for your product; or perhaps she/he is going through some difficulties in their lives of which you may not be aware etc. It is most likely nothing to do with you personally that they are saying no at this moment. Finally, a counter strategy for the fear of failure: for most successful people, failure is considered as a temporary setback. Michael Jordan has been referred to as the greatest sportsman of all time and he has lost more games than he has worn. If you can learn from ‘failure’, you will be better equipped to deal with the situation next time around. Hence, temporary setbacks are better teachers than successes, if you think about it.

I suggest that you identify your fears and add to this list of counter methods and every time you sit down to make a phone call etc. you look at the list so that your fears may be made irrelevant.

Book Review

Patric Chan’s Simple Success Principles is a book that I truly believe was written for me. The book rushes through what the author deems to be some simple steps for success. He is blunt and to the point. His success methods are based mostly from his own personal experiences but he does mention some of his reading material (notably Napoleon Hill and Robert Kiyosaki’s books) that have been a factor in developing his success mind-set. I like the organic nature of the writing, much like my own in this blog-  even the author states that the book was not proof-read because he wanted to ‘retain its originality and flow’.  Sharing one’s thoughts with others through such medium as Blogs is what really drew me into the book as I am already doing it here. The author passionately writes that sharing has exponential rewards of personal growth, amongst other things. This is because when you share a book for instance, the other person will share a book they have read and you both have learnt something new. I believe that we each can find something worth cultivating for ourselves from this honest and but flitting account of Patric’s life experiences.


Thank you for joining me in this here Blog. I simply can’t express just how excited I am by this blog. This week I’m tackling procrastination. I only pass on here what’s worked for me having reads lots of books by motivational speakers and entrepreneurs such as Tony Robbins, T. Harv Eker, Dan Meredith, Tai Lopez and many others. First blog post

So, the About page is rather long, so I will keep this somewhat short – not sure what an acceptable length is though.

Procrastination. If you ever suffered from this debilitating illness, fear not, I have some proven strategies that work for me. Proof of success #1, upon (you’ll have to excuse the ‘proper’ English in my writing, I simply don’t know how else to write without sounding like I’m writing a Jane Austen novel or dissertation. It’s probably because I’m new at this blogging. I’m not sure if I have a style yet but I don’t think this is it.) As I was saying, upon the recommendation of my mentor, the renowned entrepreneur and author, Tai Lopez (I pay him), I wake up before my household arises in order to do some reading, goal setting and such like. I’m happy to report to you that I’m doing quite well on that front as I’m no longer a stranger to the 5 am dawn chorus.

Proof #2, I’m blogging ain’t I? Plus, I set up this site myself, pretty sharpish – unfair advantage because I am a computer programmer by profession. I must warn you that I have other professions that will probably come out in my writing as and when.

So, after all that’s said and done, it’s safe to say that I am no procrastinator. How have I achieved that? – quick rummage around in my 4 notebooks for evidence.

You can bet your bottom dollar that this wisdom will have come out of the books that I’m currently reading.  It has to be in the first pages of these notebooks  because the 1st thing I did in my character building journey was to change my belief system and then deal with the procrastination. I’ll talk about Beliefs in my next blog, but for now, the dreaded procrastination.

Ahh, here it is. FEAR is the source of most procrastination, in my belief. We tend to avoid ACTION because of our fears. I have identified 3 monstrous fears as such: the fear of  failure, rejection and humiliation. I have some strategies for slaying these dragons (I have been watching G.O.T) that I will share with you in my next blog; in my preamble of the Belief systems.

In the meantime, do read The Seven Decisions and do not neglect to do the exercises. I like to get my books from Amazon coz there’s just about all the books I ever want there.
